International students who are looking to move to Canada for higher studies or specialized courses may be required to undertake an Education Credential Assessment (ECA). An ECA is a report from an approved assessment agency which validates that the educational degree, diploma or certificate that you have received in your home country is recognized as being equivalent to a Canadian diploma or degree.

Most universities in Canada undertake the evaluation themselves when they review your transcripts. Some institutes might require you to go through an assessment agency.
