Overview

Founded in 1878 as the Western University of London Ontario, Western University is ranked amongst the top 1% of higher education institutions worldwide.  It is a distinguished university for research and attracts over  5000 international students annually.  In 1923, the university was renamed The University of Western Ontario.  The faculties of Arts, Divinity, Law and Medicine were the original facultie from 1881.  Today, the university offers 400 specializations to its students. 

ADMISSIONS

Admissions are based on the student's Class X and XII results as well as proof of English Language Proficiency. Other criteria are based on the subject you apply for. There may be some required courses for particular programs.

TUITION FEES

C$ 47,500-C$63,000 per year approximately.  Tuition fees are expected to increase by 4% every year.

SCHOLARSHIPS & FINANCIAL AID

Some scholarships are available for international students.
  • Welcome to Canada Admission Scholarship
  • Western's Admissions Scholarship Program: all students are automatically considered for this award.
  • National Scholarship Program: For all-round excellence. The awards range from C$80,000-100,000.
  • Faculty of Arts & Humanities Entrance Scholarship: C$2000-2500 depending on admission average.

STUDENT HOUSING

Western University offers 12 first-year buildings with three different residence styles.  These include double and single rooms; suites with four rooms and two bathrooms and a hybrid style with double and single rooms with semi-private bathrooms.  They have 300 beds which are for female students and 5,900 for co-ed students.  The rentals range from C$16,000 to C$19,000 per year.  Off campus housing is also available.
